High Standards At Cumann Na mBunscol Finals


There was no shortage of excitement and top quality football when the Cumann na mBunscol Finals (four in Annaghdown and five in Renmore) were held recently.

SN Nead and Iolair (Rinn Mhaoile) 2-5, Garrafrauns (Dunmore) 1-2 The girls from Eagles Nest NS ,Renvyle had a great victory over a fine Garrafrauns side in the 9-a-side competition. Paul Gannon had prepared this team very well, and after building up a lead, they withstood great pressure late on, from a Garrafruans side who played with great spirit. For the winners, Becky Ní hÉinní had a marvellous game in goal and brought off some exceptional saves. Tara Ní Fhlaithearta defended with great gusto while Danielle Ní Loideáin gave a match-winning performance scoring 1-5. Others to shine were Sionnáin Ní Mhaoláin and Padraicín Ní Fhlaithearta. For Garrrafrauns, Lisa Maloney gave a wonderful display, ably helped by Suzie Ronayne, Caitriona Haverty, Amy Collins and Lucy Hannon.
